Blas dancing tango since 1950 at Buenos Aires, formed by the most renowned dancers of his time. In 2012 met Luciana and began to dance and later to teach together. 

 

As a teacher Blas has a personal methodol to transfer his extensive musical knowledge and technical body and think in dancing as weighted process and "cadencia" as an emotion. In turn, dictates regular classes and seminars in Buenos Aires and has also participated in several international festivals. 

 

Blas brings experience, knowledge, patience and reflection while Luciana adds freshness, dynamism and great theoretical knowledge on body biomechanics. Luciana also has a great theoretical acquis on social and political history of Argentine tango.

Blas CATRENAU

BLAS started dancing tango when he was 16 years among other men at the practice studio of Crisol and Verné. He then started attending the carnival balls organized by local clubs. From then on, he has never stopped dancing tango for one minute.

 

He has attended the most prominent clubs and dancing rooms of his time such as Club Unidos de Pompeya, Club Huracán, Club Social y Sportivo Buenos Aires, Picadilly, Sans Souci, Montecarlos, among others.

 

At the beginning of the 90s, he started organizing milongas himself. From 2003 to 2009, he was the organizer of “La Milonguita”, one of the most successful milongas in the city.

 

In 2002, he won the First Metropolitan Tango Championship in Buenos Aires. Later, he obtained the Tango Teacher Degree granted by the Buenos Aires City Government which allowed him to teach at Centro Educativo del Tango de Buenos Aires (CETBA) created by Gloria and Rodolfo DINZEL, both teachers and dancers.

 

 

Blas’ passion when dancing as well as the harmony he shares with his partner, Luciana, combined with the gracefulness and elegance in his movements manage to capture and celebrate the essence of traditional tango.

 

 

Luciana GUIDO

At LUCIANA´s house, tango has always been in the air. It is in that environment that she grew up listening to its sounds. During her teenage years, she took tango lessons together with her father at the well-known Club Almagro.

 

In her twenties, she started attending the most prestigious milongas in Buenos Aires and she started studying with some of the best tango teaches like Blas Catrenau. For many years now, she has been attending the Dinzel Studio to take lessons with Professor Rodolfo Dinzel himself.

 

Her great interest in popular and folk culture inspired her to study Sociology at the University of Buenos Aires where she graduated in 2004. She then continued her studies and obtained a Master’s Degree in Cultural Studies from IDEAS/UNSAM in 2007, and in 2009 she obtained her PhD Degree in Social Studies from the University of Quilmes. At present, she is conducting several research works related to Argentine tango and and continues with postdoctoral studies in Paris (IHEAL-Univeristé Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3, 2014-2016).

 

With great devotion to this popular music, in all her movements, she reflects the joy of dancing and the passion for the beat of this music from Río de la Plata.
